Inspirational advances in biomedical engineering

Life after a catastrophic injury will inevitably involve painstaking rebuilding and rethinking in lots of different areas.

This short YouTube film (3.04 minutes) from the Biomedical Engineering scientists at Case Western Reserve University (Cleveland,Ohio) shows how Bill Kochevar – who suffered a severe spinal cord injury after a bike crash – has embraced research into Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES).

Professor Robert F. Kirsch, and his team explain how they have, for the first time, been able to bridge the spinal cord injury.

In Bill’s own words, “the research has enhanced my ability to be able to do things.”
